Unemployment Updates
Every week, we get a new Report on Unemployment in America. In just the last month, over 26 million Americans have lost their jobs. Here in Florida, over 500,000 people applied for unemployment just in the last week.
The Florida unemployment website is still a disaster, but people are beginning to get paid after weeks of delays. There have been 1.7 million claims for unemployment since mid-March, but just 108,000 have begun receiving money. The State also announced that benefits will be retroactive to either March 9th or the day you lost your job, so even if you’ve had trouble registering you can fortunately receive backdated payments.
