Paying Rent
Kevin Comer here with the Report on Covid’s impact economically and legally. For both businesses and people, rent is often due at the beginning of the month, but what do you do iif there is no money?
Some landlords are being proactive. Publix is waiving rent for two months in shopping centers they own. Other large companies simply said they won’t pay rent, like the Cheesecake Factory.

For individuals, the situation is more complicated. In Hillsborough County, evictions are frozen. In Pinellas County, they can still take place in theory, but it is unlikely. The Florida Supreme Court has essentially stopped foreclosures and evictions for the next few weeks, so there are protections if someone cannot pay.
